2018 Elsevier Nursing Education Conference

Jan 3, 2018 ‐ Jan 5, 2018

This program will help nursing faculty understand the social, personal and academic traits and preferences our students bring to their training, how these characteristics impact learning, persistence and success, and how we can best help all of our students reach their educational goals by transitioning to a researched informed model of learning based on increasing both student activity and leveraging available technologies to improve instructional efficiency and effectiveness.  An instructional model and methods to increase students' responsibility for their own leaning, personal ownership of class goals and to improve students reaching meaningful learning and developmental goals will be described and demonstrated with immediately applicable techniques. Upon completion, participants will be able to :

  • Describe the current cohort of nursing students in generational perspective.
  • Describe the current outcome issues identified in the work readiness of college graduates.
  • Compare the traditional teaching model to an active learning model.
  • Describe techniques to ope rationalize each stage of a seven step best practices instructional model.
