Description

  • Describe how normal spontaneous breathing and positive pressure ventilation (intubated /NIV patient) differ and discuss strategies to deal with the complications of PPV.
  • Explain each of the five ventilation variables (Mode, Vt, IFR, RR, PEEP/FIO2) and describe a strategy emphasizing patient safety in monitoring & manipulating vent settings.
  • Compare & contrast two types of ventilated patients (trauma vs. obstructive disease) and explain a responsive strategy that optimizes ventilation and minimizes further lung injury.
